Statement of Faith

Our Statement of Faith

THE BIBLE

We believe the Scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments to be the verbal, plenary inspiration of God, without error in the original writings, and of supreme and final authority for our faith and life. The Bible is the word of God. (Psalms 19:7-11; Matt. 5:18; I Thess. 2:13; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Peter 3:15-16)

THE GODHEAD

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deut. 6:4; Gen 1:26; Matt. 28:19; John 1:1, 14; 10:30; 17:22; Acts 5:3-4; 2 Cor. 13-14; Heb. 1:1-3; Col. 1:15-20)

God the Father
We believe that God the Father is sovereign, eternal, holy, changeless, just, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. He is also personally faithful, loving, merciful and kind to man, yet He is righteous in His wrath. These qualities are made visible in creation, in redemption, in His dealings with the nations of the world, (primarily Israel), and in the judgement to come. (I Chron. 29:11; Deut. 7:7; Psalm 139:1-10; 63:6; Lam. 3:21-24; Mal. 3:6; Isa. 6:3; John 3:16; Rom. 3:23; Heb. 1:3; Gen. 1:1; Rom. 1:18-20; Rev. 4:1-11; 20:11-15; Heb. 1:1-3)

Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, that He is the true God, and true man, and Lord of all.  (Matt. 1:18-25; John 1:1-4; Heb. 1:1-3; Col. 2:9; I Pet. 3:15; Phil. 2:11)

Holy Spirit
We believe in the person and the deity of the Holy Spirit, that He came forth from God to convict the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; to regenerate; to indwell; to sanctify; to empower; to enable for ministry; to comfort; and to instruct those who believe in Jesus Christ. (Acts 5:3-4; John 16:4-15; Rom. 8:1-2; Titus 3:5-7; I Cor. 12:4-11)

MAN AND SIN

We  believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred, not only physical death, but also spiritual death (which is separation from God); and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, demonstrated in thought, word and deed. (Gen. 1:26; 3:1-24; Rom. 1:18-32; 3:10-24; 5:12-14; 6:33; Eph. 2:1-3)

MARRIAGE

We believe that God created humanity male and female, and that marriage is the union of one biological male to one biological female for as long as both shall live. Marriage is a sacred covenant between the two and God that was instituted in the beginning by God. God designed sexual intimacy to only occur between a husband and a wife. God has commanded that no sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage. In addition, marriage is a reflection of the nature of God to the world; His unity, Oneness, Love and Holiness, as well as picture of Christ’s relationship with His Church. (Gen. 1:27; 2:24; Eph. 5:25-27; I Cor. 6:9-10; Heb. 13:4)

SALVATION

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died in our place, according to the Scriptures, as the only satisfactory substitution to make atonement for our sins. He took upon Himself the penalty for our sin so that all who are born again of the Holy Spirit, believe in Him, receive the gift of His grace and are justified before God, thereby becoming children of God. (John 3:1-18; Acts 4:12; Rom. 5:1-9; 2 Cor. 5:21; Eph. 1:7; 2:8-9; Titus 3:5-7; I Pet. 1:18-19; I John 2:2)

RESURRECTION AND EXALTATION OF CHRIST

We believe that Jesus was raised bodily from the dead, that he ascended into heaven and is now at the right hand of the Father interceding in our behalf as our High Priest and Advocate. (Acts 1:9; I Cor. 15:12-28; Heb. 4:14-16; 9:24; I John 2:1)

THE CHURCH (UNIVERSAL)

We believe that all who have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit belong to the one true church-the Body of Christ. (I Cor. 12:13; Eph. 1:22-23; 2:19-22)

THE CHURCH (LOCAL)

We believe that the local church is the visible expression of the spiritual, universal Body of Christ. Its membership is composed of regenerated and baptized believers who bear witness together of Christ and minister one to another as they are enabled by the Holy Spirit. (I Cor 1:1; 12:1-31)

SATAN

We believe in the person and reality of Satan and his angels (demons). (Isa. 14:12-17; Matt. 4:2-11; John 8:44; Rev. 12:9-10; 20:7-10)

HEAVEN AND HELL

We believe in the bodily resurrection of all mankind, the everlasting reward of the saved who will be with God eternally; and the everlasting, conscious punishment of the unsaved who will be separated from God eternally. (Matt. 25:31-46; John 5:24-29; Acts 24:14-15; 2 Cor. 5:1-4; Rev. 20:1-15; 21:1-4)

SECOND COMING OF CHRIST

We believe in the personal, premillennial return of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Matt. 24:36-42; Acts 1:10-11; I Cor. 15:15-55; I Thess. 4:13-18; James 5:8-9)
